Performance of Low-Income Dual Language Learners Attending English-Only Schools on the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals–Fourth Edition, Spanish

Here is a fantastic article on the performance of bilingual Spanish-English speakers on the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals – 4th Edition Spanish, from the April issue of Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools,. Although this this test is intended specifically for this population, the test’s ability to accurately discriminate between clients with language disorders and those without is somewhat underwhelming. The take-home message is that all SLPs should be cautious when interpreting results from their standardized tests, and that multiple sources and methods of assessment should be utilized.
